Yes, many areas of the exhibits are designed to be interactive, allowing even children to explore the nature, history, and wildlife of the Alps in a playful way. Although visitors are not allowed to pet the animals in the ibex enclosure, they can still observe these impressive wild animals up close.

The new themed trail offers plenty of opportunities, especially for children, to discover the nature of the Pitztal Valley (opening in mid of August 2026).

In addition, there is a playground right next to the Ansitz Café-Restaurant, which invites children to run around and explore, making the visit even more enjoyable for families.

Parking is available right next to the St. Leonard community center in the Pitztal Valley. From there, it’s about a 10-minute walk to the Steinbockzentrum. Along the way, there are fun stops for children and the young at heart.

We place the utmost importance on making as many areas as possible accessible to people with disabilities.
The Haus am Schrofen features an elevator and an accessible restroom.
To reach Haus Weidtblick, visitors with limited mobility can drive up to the adjacent parking lot. From there, a lift takes them to the exhibition spaces.
The chamois enclosure is also accessible without barriers up to the feeding area.

The length of your visit depends entirely on how much time you have. However, you should definitely plan on spending at least half a day there.
